Frequently asked questions
Can't find what you need? Ask in Discord.
// hardware & location
Where is the server physically located?
Far North Queensland, Australia. It's a home server, not a data centre rack. The machine is in a house in regional FNQ. This means Australian-local ping for most Oceanic players, but not the redundant power and cooling of a proper facility.
What are the hardware specs?
The primary node (tsv01) runs an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X with 64 GB DDR4 RAM on NVMe storage. A second node (opt01) runs an Intel i5-7500 with 14 GB RAM and handles Discord bot hosting.
What is the uptime like?
Honest answer: there's no SLA. The hardware is reliable but it's running on home internet with a 5G mobile failover for ISP outages. If the failover kicks in, the service stays up but speeds may be significantly reduced. Power events cause downtime. Outages are posted in Discord as they happen. If you need five-nines availability, this isn't the right service.
// ordering & setup
How long does setup take?
After payment, open a ticket in Discord with your invoice number. Provisioning is currently manual. Your server will be live within 24 hours, usually much faster depending on time of day.
Can I get a custom plan?
Yes. If you need more RAM than Bedrock (16GB), a specific modpack pre-installed, or a non-standard configuration, ask in Discord. Pricing follows the same $3.15/GB formula for Minecraft and $2/GB for bots.
What Minecraft versions and server types are supported?
Any version and any server type: Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, BungeeCord, Waterfall, Velocity. If there's a Pterodactyl egg for it, it runs here. If there isn't, one can usually be added. Ask in Discord.
What Discord bot runtimes are supported?
Python (discord.py, interactions.py), Node.js (discord.js), Java, Go: anything that can be packaged for a Docker container. Ask if you're not sure about a specific stack.
// billing & cancellation
What payment methods are accepted?
Credit and debit cards via Stripe. Prices are in AUD. GST does not currently apply. CyTide is not registered for GST as ABN registration is pending.
When am I billed?
Monthly on the anniversary of your order date. You receive an invoice by email before it's due.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from the client portal and the service runs until the end of the billing period. No lock-in, no cancellation fee. Refunds within 7 days of the billing date if the service hasn't been provisioned. After that, no refunds, per the Australian Consumer Law provisions in the Terms of Service.
Can I upgrade or downgrade?
Yes, via the client portal at any time. Ask in Discord and the change is applied manually with a pro-rated credit or charge at the next invoice.
// technical
Will IP bans work on my Minecraft server?
Yes. IP bans work normally.
What does "DDoS mitigation" mean here?
Traffic is filtered through Intergrid's network appliances in Brisbane, which provide volumetric DDoS protection. It's not a Minecraft-specific game firewall. It protects against large floods at the network level, not protocol-aware attacks. It's much better than nothing, but it's not the same as what OVH Game servers provide.
Are backups automated?
Two separate systems. CyTide runs daily automated snapshots of the node to a dedicated 4 TB drive. This is disaster recovery for catastrophic events like drive failure and is restored by CyTide, not the customer. Separately, Pterodactyl gives you in-panel backup tools: you can create, manage and restore your own backups any time without raising a ticket. There are no off-site backups, so keep your own SFTP download of anything critical.
Do I get a dedicated IP?
Your server gets a dedicated port on a shared IP. If you need a dedicated IP address, ask in Discord. It may be possible to arrange for an additional cost.
